Jorge Semidey Retires After 28 Years of Service
February 28, 2012
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
I would like to advise you of the following changes occuning in the Local 108 leadership. Our
friend and Brother, Jorge Semidey who currently holds the position of Secretary-Treasurer will
be retiring March 1, 2012. Brother Semidey has been a member of the Local 108 Staff for 28
years rising to the position of Secretary-Treasurer.
As Secretary-Treasurer, he has been a cornerstone in the aggressive pursuit ofthe betterment of
the lives of Local 108 members. He has also dedicated himself to making sure that Latino
workers were treated fairly and given access to opportunities.
The membership of Local 108 will truly miss Jorge's leadership.
I am happy to announce that Kathy Campbell, Local 108 Recorder was appointed on February
27,2012 by the Executive Board to fill the vacancy in the office of Secretary-Treasurer
beginning March 1, 2012 for the remainder of the term.
Sister Campbell has proven her leadership over the years as Recorder and Political Director of the Local. Kathy has served in leadership positions and many progressive labor organizations.
Kathy has developed a reputation of being the "go-to" person in NJ politics to oversee important projects. Sister Kathy Campbell's leadership style of always keeping in the forefront "what's better for the member" continues the Local 108 tradition. I am very enthusiastic about Kathy in her new leadership role.
