On September 19th 2011, Local 108 President Charles N. Hall Jr. received the NEPAC Man of the Year Award. During his comments Hall remarked that room was full of great leaders who fight the good fight every day and that he wasn’t sure why he had gotten the award. “I have only done what we do as labor leaders, servicing our membership, organizing, speaking out against injustice and supporting political action on behalf of working families,” said Hall. Hall also mentioned that he had run for Essex County Freeholder-At-Large in the democratic primary. “The reason that I ran for office in the Democratic Primary is because many of the Democratic Legislators were not listening to union members and working families. In fact their actions were not in the best interest of working families,” said Hall. The award was given at the 2011 NEPAC Dinner which took place at the UFCW Region 1 Convention.
